Legendary Swedish Brand Waterproof at Moscow Dive Show 2017

06 Dec 2016

What Anton Chekhov and diving may have in common?

The answer is quite unexpected: waterproofs.

"...It was cold; there was a feeling of raw, unpleasant dampness. The mother-in-law of a lawyer, called Kvashin, and his wife, Nadyezhda Filippovna, dressed in waterproofs and shawls, were sitting over the dinner table in the dining-room." Anthon Chekhov, short story Bad Weather (translated by Constance Garnett).

In the 19thcentury Waterproof was a name for a rainproof women's coat, but today Waterproof has become almost synonymous to a first-class diving suit.

The company Waterproof was established in Göteborg, Sweden, in 1984. As many other firms in that time, it began as a small shop, repairing and modernizing diving suits. Its owner, however, soon realized that it would be much easier not to makeover ready-made suits but to tailor his own diving suits that would satisfy all the requirements of Swedish divers.  This is how the first line of Waterproof diving suits appeared.

Enough with history, though. You can see the modern collection of Waterproof equipment only at Moscow Dive Show, stand D2/2.
