Denis Kozlov, a Cave Diving Instructor and the Head of DiveResort.ru Dive Center in Spain, to Make a Presentation at Moscow Dive Show 2017

30 Dec 2016

Denis Kozlov, a cave diving instructor and the head of DiveResort.ru dive center in Spain, will make a presentation at Moscow Dive Show 2017 about the deepest karst spring in the eastern Iberian Peninsula, the legendary Font Estramar (Sea Star Spring). He will tell us about the peculiar features of this cave, its topography, the techniques used in diving through its main routes, and the history of this unique cave's exploration.

The history of Font Estramar (Sea Star Cave) exploration started more than 60 years ago. The uniqueness of this underwater cave stems from its volcanic origin. Two of its first explorers were a French researcher of the World Ocean, photographer and filmmaker Jacques-Yves Cousteau and a Belgian and French geologist and volcanologist, author of books and films about volcanoes, a Russian emigrant Garun Taziyev. Today's depth record of 262 meters was set by Xavier Meniscus, a French explorer and underwater cave diver, in 2015. Font Estramar (Sea Star Spring) is also unique in terms of its conditions, it is the only accessible platform for training in deep diving and explorations performed in the real conditions of overhead environment.

A report will be prepared for the Russian Speleology Congress about the delivery of training programs and exploration of underwater caves and cenotes in Spain and France, The need for a high-quality and well organized platform for training, refinement of programs in the conditions of an increased difficulty and depth, as well as for the acquisition of the experience, necessary for the planet's deep underwater caves exploration.
