Do you know what connects the Egyptian resort of Sharm El Sheikh and the literary capital of Russia, the city of Orel? More than 20 years ago, one scuba dive on the RAS KATY reef near Sharm El Sheikh marked the beginning of the Orel diving club "Divo", whose team we are going to greet with a loud ovation in February 2025 at the show "Heroes of the Depth".

Over the years of its work, the club's divers have discovered many destinations: the already mentioned Egypt, the gentle Maldives, the exotic Similan Islands, the waters of Mexico and Cuba, the Seychelles, the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and others, but most of all they managed to make discoveries in the waters of their native country.

Both independently and jointly with the 1XPEDITION scientific research center, the Divo club team searches for and finds underwater artifacts in Russian waters that expand our knowledge of the past and preserve the memory of many people and events. Here are just a few of the club's finds:
- In 2019, we managed to find and identify a steamship that sank in Lake Ladoga near Valaam Island - "Valamon luostari";
- April 2021 went down in Russian history as the moment when the relics of the Battle of Sudbishche were discovered by Divo divers. Historians and archaeologists have long been looking for the site of the battle from the time of Ivan the Terrible in the Oryol region, and divers managed to find it. At the bottom of the Gogol River, weapons were discovered, which scientists recognized as artifacts washed into the river from the bottom of a ravine from that very battle near the village of Sudbishche;
— In 2022, a fragment of the Juno brigantine, which sank more than 200 years ago in Kamchatka, was found. For 10 days, divers from the Divo club, together with members of the ORCA Kamchatka diving club, using rare manuscripts by scientist and traveler Kirill Khlebnikov and archival documents, explored the depths of the Pacific Ocean to determine the location of the Juno shipwreck.

It is impossible to list all the underwater discoveries of the club in one publication, so we will simply inform you that in the nomination "Search and Find" of the show "Heroes of the Depth" in February 2025, the head of the diving club "Divo", NDL dive instructor, CMAS dive instructor, 5th category diver Sergey Kulikov will appear on the stage of the Moscow Dive Show to present his team (Stanislav Trofimov, Andrey Petrov, Oleg Shabunya, Andrey Pavlov, Pavel Yudin, Pavel Kulikov and Alexey Petrykin) and receive a well-deserved award for his many years of work.

Sergey will talk about the plans of the club "Divo", including underwater exploration of the Arctic zone, as well as the implementation of a large-scale project "Diving for All", thanks to which children in difficult life situations can try themselves in the role of a diver for free under the guidance of the club's instructors.

The exhibition of the water man will also show two documentaries about the underwater discoveries of the club - "The Black Depths of Ladoga" and "Secrets of Sunken Ships". The date and time of the show will be published in the poster of the exhibition by the end of December. Follow the news.
