We tell you all about it in more detail!
In August, a diving expedition took place to the high-mountain lake Giybashkel, before which this lake was in the status of unexplored.
The expedition was led by Yuri Kashin and Konstantin Izotov - ambassadors of the Moscow Dive Show, multiple record holders of Russia and the world, instructors of the National Dive League and members of the Russian Geographical Society.
Also taking part in the expedition were Elena Kashina, a multiple Russian and world record holder, and Sergey Leksin, a well-known blogger and explorer of the Caucasus.
The objectives of the expedition were to study the underwater waters for their ecological state, including flora and fauna, measure the depth, test Russian equipment in extreme high-altitude conditions, and set records for high-altitude underwater diving.
All the objectives of the expedition were successfully achieved!
The ecological state of the underwater and coastal parts of the lake was 5 points out of 5. During the dives, a crustacean inhabitant of the lake, the common zhabranok, was discovered, which is listed in the Red Book.
During the dives, the divers set a number of Russian and world records for high-altitude diving. Yuri Kashin, Konstantin Izotov, and Elena Kashina broke their own world and Russian records, which were set in 2023 and 2024!
