At the depth of peaks - a documentary about a high-altitude dive expedition on the screen of Moscow Dive Show 2024

14 Jan 2024

In August 2023, a group of divers climbed to Elbrus, at an altitude of about 3,500 meters, to make record dives in the highest (officially registered) lake of the Elbrus region, the mystical Northern Birjaly or, as it is also called, the " dead eye of the genie "(the lake itself is located at an altitude of 3,380 meters). The lake is considered mystical due to the nearby Kalitsky Peak, a remnant of the main ridge of Elbrus preserved from ancient times, which was given a pyramidal shape by glaciers, thereby providing a constant comparison with the Egyptian pyramids and the birth of many rumors and legends about the mystery and powerful energy of this place. The expedition set several goals at once: * to assess the ecological state of the lake; * to explore the bottom of the lake for artifacts of the Second World War (in 1942 there were battles for Elbrus); * to set 2 world records: "diving for research purposes (tandem) at altitude" and "diving solo in the category "women" (NDL divemaster Elena Kashina is responsible for the "female" part of the records.) And it was headed by the well-known editors of the PG for participation in the show "Heroes of the Deep" at the Moscow Dive Show in 2021, 2022 and 2023, Moscow Dive Show 2024 ambassadors, multiple world record holders in high-altitude diving, members of the Russian Geographical Society, NDL course director Konstantin Izotov and NDL instructor Yuri Kashin. The documentary film "In the depths of the peaks" about the expedition, which was crowned with success, will tell about the difficulties that the expedition team had to face (and there were enough difficulties) and will allow you to look at the surprisingly beautiful mountain landscapes that brave divers were lucky enough to admire.

On the screen of the Moscow Dive Show on February 8 (Thursday) at 10: 00.
