The second ever World Parafreediving Championship in the pool according to CMAS rules was held in the Italian city of Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Russian paraathlete, world record holder in parafreediving, winner of the Heroes of the Depth 2022 show award Alexander Kusakin took part in this championship.
Alexander's participation in the championship resulted in two gold medals: - for a distance of 102.5 meters in the breaststroke discipline (DNF), which the champion covered only on his arms; - for 6 minutes 37 seconds of static breath holding.
In addition, Alexander performed in the discipline of long diving in separate fins DYNB, using specialized prostheses to which the fins were attached (the freediver lost both legs as a result of an accident in 2020). The performance was not counted, since the performance of this discipline in such a format has not yet been classified.
World champion in parafreediving Alexander Kusakin will take the stage of the Moscow Dive Show 2025 on Sunday, Freediving Day, and will talk about his participation in the championship, his world records and what else we can expect from him in the future.
