An underwater park on the site of a flooded amber quarry is a new project of the Museum-Reserve "Museum of the World Ocean".
A new attraction equipped with infrastructure for underwater tourism and wreck diving has appeared on the tourist map of the Kaliningrad Region.
Large objects used in amber mining and donated by the Kaliningrad Amber Combine are sunk in the underwater park "Yantarny". Among them: a walking excavator bucket, a bulldozer blade, pumps, etc., all objects are located at depths from 11 to 21 meters.
The underwater park "Yantarny" is a museum-reconstruction, fully or partially simulating the historical environment of amber mining due to exhibits located at the historical site and in the corresponding natural environment.
The project "Creation of the underwater park "Yantarny" in the Kaliningrad region" was implemented with the grant support of the Russian Geographical Society and with the assistance of the Government of the Kaliningrad region.
The speaker is the head of the excursion and methodological department "Nature" of the Museum of the World Ocean - Polina Zhurakhovskaya.
